Is Somatics suitable for beginners?
Yes absolutely - it's suitable for all levels. The practice is all about mindful movement, so it's suitable for all ages and stages. All movement sequences can be modified to suit your individual needs.
I'm very fit & active - would this suit me?
Do you offer private classes?
Yes. Private classes are an opportunity to have a personalised postural assessment and tailor-made practice designed for your unique tension patterns.
Do you offer casual classes?
Due to our small individualised classes we offer a term structure, however casual classes may be available on a case by case basis. The three class taster option is a great way to try these unique classes. We understand that you may like to try a class before committing to a whole term.
What are your rates?
3 class taster for new students $50, Casual/drop-in $22, Term rate $18 per class.
Due to our small individualised classes, it is strongly encouraged to invest in a Term rate. Each student is catered for according to their needs, and this helps to support the boutique nature of the studio. Casual options may be offered on a case by case basis. Our Term rate is the most competitive and cost effective option.
Where is your studio?
Our boutique Somatics studio is located approximately 6 minutes from central Rangiora. Please contact us for details if you are interested in registering for classes.
I already practice Yoga - why would I try Somatics?
I've been practicing yoga for over twenty years now. These days I'm aware of so much more subtlety in the nuances of my practice that were not within my ability to sense previously. I was unaware of what I was unaware of before discovering Somatics - a deeply meditative practice. Exploring movement with a focus on curiosity can be an exciting journey of self-discovery. It allows you to tap into your creativity and gives you complete agency over your body. This sense of empowerment can be truly transformative!
I'm very fit & active - would this suit me?
YES!! Our brains love to create patterns. This means that you take your movement patterns, whether they are efficient or not, into every activity you do. Somatic movements, because they ask you to slow down and pay attention, give you an opportunity to discover what your patterns are and the tools to re-pattern your brain to improve your neuromuscular connections. This means: * more efficiency in your movements (better co-ordination) * less energy required to do the job * fewer injuries * better recovery
